What is Our Task in this Time of Rapprochement with Iran? Discussion with Prof. Dr. Hamid Dabashi from Columbia University, New York City.

«What is our task in the question of peace?,» asked pointedly Rosa Luxembourg in her essay «Peace Utopias» (1912) early in the 20th century on another crossroad in European and world history. «It does not consist,» she rightly warned,«merely in vigorously demonstrating at all times the love of peace of the Social Democrats; but first and foremost our task is to make clear to the masses of people the nature of militarism and sharply and clearly to bring out the differences in principle between the standpoint of the Social Democrats and that of the bourgeois peace enthusiasts.»

Following Rosa Luxemburg’s lead, in this talk Prof. Dr. Hamid Dabashi will both celebrate the lifting of the crippling economic sanctions and the threat of war on Iran as he will also map out the contours of both domestic and regional geopolitics that generates a new agenda of critical thinking and responsibility in this new era of rapprochement between Iran and Europe.

«Dabashi is learned, poetic, ranging from philosophy to film, every word written with a commitment to the possibility of a just world. I have worked with him in the past and will work with him again in the future.»
